Can't find the right stuff.

Hey all, I wanted to talk about not being able to find the correct materials for your cosplay. Last night after work I went to Joann Fabrics believing I could find the rope I needed for my cosplay. That was a hard nope. I spent about an hour making sure I didn't overlook anything, which was probably a bad idea because I started stressing myself out for no reason. What I did find was something similar to what I needed even though it was the wrong color. In my search I also saw a trim that looked like it would look really cool for the cosplay even though it isn't exactly what it shows in the reference images. And that is just the thing.
They are only references!
If you try to get the cosplay to look absolutely perfect to the reference down to the last detail, you will end up stressing yourself out and will actually miss out on putting your own creative flare to the design. Tbh, it is hard to break past the original design. I found though that if you take a few creative liberties, you can actually improve the design and people will still find it awesome. (Tbt. Most people at conventions will be super supportive of your cosplays no matter how they look). Don't forget you can go back to your design later even after it is finished and can update it if you eventually find the materials that you needed originally.
So that was my little pep talk today. Sorry it was so short, but I hope it still helps. Don't forget to follow me on social media and send me pics of your cosplays. I'm always interested to see what people are working on and how they create it.
Till next time,
Emzer (RezCosplay)
