Hey all! So I was thinking this morning while at work that I really love Dragon Age. I mean....I love it maybe a little too much to where I listen to podcasts and YouTube videos while I'm at my desk at work. I get tremendously inspired to recreate the outfits, but wait....I'm already in the middle of two other costumes...welp...now I'm bored with the other two and am super excited to start a new one.

-_-

I figure this is a good opportunity to give a little insight on my experience and how I sometimes feel like Professor Finbarr Calamitous from Jimmy Neutron (y'all know who I'm talking about. The guy who could never finish anything). The main reason is my creative mind doesn't sit still when I have some downtime at work and of course since I'm at work, I can't work on most parts of my cosplays. So the main thing I do is come up with different outfits and begin breaking down the parts of the costume, which then makes me extremely excited to start the cosplay.

One of the main issues that I have when working on my cosplays, is that I. Get. Bored and uninspired. And to be honest, that is perfectly okay. I believe it is good to keep coming up with new ideas and starting new projects. It lets you come back to the other cosplays later with fresh eyes. That being said, there needs to be a line with how many cosplays you're working on at one time and to not leave the others too long with them just gathering dust and cluttering the room. Right now as you may know, I'm currently working on my Hawke's Champion Mage Armor as well as my own CyberPUNK design. Well, I got inspired last night to start a new cosplay from the DLC pack for Dragon Age: Inquisition; the Antaam Saar armor.

Why do I do this to myself?

Anyways, when you are starting a new cosplay, always keep the others in mind and see if there are aspects of the new costume that you can apply to your previous ones. Also see if there are parts of each cosplay you can work on at the same time. What do I mean by work on parts at the same time? Simple. If you are painting EVA foam armor or are 3D printing pieces of the costume, why don't you print and paint parts for each cosplay? Take my CyberPUNK and my Team Rocket cosplay. I fortunately have an FDM and a DLP printer (as well as my boyfriend having eight printers for his company, which I can sometimes ask him to print a piece of my cosplay if a printer is free). I can print parts of both the CyberPUNK cosplay as well as some Pokeballs on the same build-plate or spread them between the printers. Like I mentioned in my previous post, Getting Started, a good idea to have in mind is bringing up all parts of a costume. This includes your costumes as a whole.

When you pause work on a cosplay, it is very hard to get back into it or to work on it even though you want to start the other one. I call this the trudging through phase. Don't force yourself too much. Take a few days off from working and then come back. Like I said earlier, don't leave the cosplay on hiatus for too long or it will be that much harder to start again. Just trudge on through and soon you will get your inspiration back for the cosplay.

Just keep going and you will be able to finish!

So there you have my experience on starting multiple cosplays at one time and how I try to get them all finished. Let me know how your cosplays are going and keep checking back in for more updates on my blog.

Till next time,

Emzer (Rez Cosplay)
